You may wonder why I am so intrigued by the concept
of smelling television shows and video games. You see, I was born without a sense of smell. It's been my dream to smell, if
only just once, for over a decade.
I read a press release in 2004 about how Japanese
electronics brand, Sony, was pioneering a new technology that transmitted the sense directly into your brain. I never forgot
about that. It was supposed to be introduced on their latest Playstation 3 model, but is still undergoing development.
A technology that could allow me to smell would open
up a whole new understanding of the world for me. It could also potentially be adapted to let blind people "see" and deaf
people "hear."
Now that is a technology worth praising.
